Many people have not worked with an Interior Designer before and can be intimidated, thinking this service is only for the very wealthy. It works a little differently here. In the states, your choices are endless, limited only by style and budget. Here in Honduras it is very difficult to find resources in styles to which you are accustomed. I have traveled all of mainland Honduras, setting up wholesale accounts where possible. Unfortunately, Honduras manufacturers do not offer much remotely Caribbean, island style, as the mainland architecture and tastes are far different. I have accounts in Atlanta, Tampa and Miami where quality tropical decor is available with manufacturers such as Tommy Bahama, Padma's Plantation and Hunter Douglas, to name a few. My resources are truly worldwide.

I can guarantee that you will spend as much or more to do the job correctly, yourselves as opposed to hiring Sand Castles. We have the wholesale accounts, the knowledge and contacts to get the job done. We deal with Customs with just about every ship delivery and have an account already set up for receiving your goods that arrive from Honduras, the states, or wherever they ultimately come from.

You will not have to travel the mainland, uncertain of where to find what you are looking for, or have to choose from the very limited selections here on Roatan.You will not have to deal with the hassles of lost shipments, bent blinds or wet electronics. I am very hands on and oversee each phase of the project. I take photos, email them to you as we progress and stay in close contact with you. I work for you, my client, not the developer or builder, to such an extent, one client refers to me as his Private Island Eye! If you are not on the island for the entire building process, it can become quite stressful, being so far away. With Sand Castles you will know exactly what is going on, each step of the way. If you need funds dispersed, we can handle that as well with bank accounts in dollars and lempiras.

Each design project is unique and different in its' own way, so we offer our services either by the hour or by the project.

The hourly rate is $40 per hour, plus the cost of materials, furnishings, etc. The hourly rate applies when drafting floorplans and working with a total custom home, where the costs cannot be determined ahead of time. A detailed monthly accounting is emailed to you, all receipts collected and kept on file.

The Package Rate is for a total turnkey condo or home. Every item necessary for occupying a vacation home is provided for, down to the corkscrew. A good rule of thumb is to budget 10% of your purchase price to complete the interior design.

STICKER SHOCK

Some clients have never had the experience of purchasing every single item found in your home, at one time. Take a stroll through your home with your calculator. If you remember what you paid for the living room sectional, also remember what year that was in! Unfortunately a large amount of funds are spent for shipping, freight and customs. It adds up fast. Just about everything on an island is imported, so the costs are much higher here than back home. I go on buying trips and attend wholesale to the trade shows always looking for the very best prices for quality goods, so that the final figure will not be as high as it could be without this effort.

Once we have had a detailed consultation, a Contract will be written, specifying exactly what services are expected to be performed.
A $3000 to $5000 bank wire retainer is required to begin the project.
